Regardless of the style, it is impractical to organize a single project that will encompass the entire enterprise. At a logical level, when a series of stars share a set of common dimensions, the dimensions are referred to as conformed dimensions. Identical dimensions ensure conformance, but can take several other forms as well. Fact tables and conformed dimensions can be planned and documented in matrix format and serve as the blueprint for incremental implementation. Dimensions tables can conform in several ways. Shared dimensions, degenerate dimension and conformed rollups are three ways. A fourth style of conformance is less commonly accepted; it allows for overlapping dimensions. Tables that can conform when the dimension attributes of one are a subset of another are known up as a rollup dimension and a base dimension. Project Plan for Lean ImplementationIn order to fix the problems that the business is facing, I would propose a new business model incorporating a lean approach. Lean focuses on elimination of waste (Slack et al, 2010) and the following are some of the Muda, or non-value adding work for the customer that can be eliminated with the suggested operational implementations. 4. 1. Reducing waiting time Yellow Nails Salon will benefit from eradicating the appointment system that they are currently enforcing, which in fact ties up the service slot, even if the customer is late due to the business’ policy that could be given to a walk-in customer.Management should instead implement job cards with a list of what treatments the customer wants with service being given on a first-come-first-serve basis. This will allow the business to maximize the number of customers they are taking on daily, not turn any customers away and eventually cut down on the waiting time of the customer. 4. 2. Both ragtime and the blues were essential and influential in their contributions to the development of jazz. Together, they served as the primary predecessors to the later, more complicated genre. Key elements from each brand are incorporated and mixed to create jazz. Without the creative geniuses of ragtime such as Scott Jopin and James Reese Europe and Blues propagators W.C. Hady and Robert Johnson, the distinctive genre of jazz would not have emerged. Ragtime and blues are both unique in their respective styles and means of development, yet they also share some similarities despite their clearly outlined differences. Jasen and Tichenor argue that although ragtime â€Å"constitutes a concrete musical idiom†¦ its distinguishing musical characteristics were lost upon its early promoters and contemporary listening audience, and†¦ remain muddled to this day† (1). However, there are key elements of ragtime that make it unique and recognizable. Ragtime is a sound that is played—typically on the piano—in â€Å"ragged time,† or in other words, syncopation—a rhythmic technique in which emphasis is placed on notes that are played off the beat (Haskins 36). Another element of ragtime is its association with dance; ragtime music would play and references would be made to â€Å"‘ragging’ being a style of dancing† (Berlin 13).
